Working Process of Automatic Plug Tray Seeding Line

Working Process of Automatic Tray Seeding Line In modern seedling bases, the tray seeding line works like a quiet and orderly seed production line. It turns the tedious and laborintensive manual seedling work into continuous and accurate automatic operation. The whole process starts with preparing growing media. It goes through filling, dibbling, sowing, covering and watering step by step, giving every seed an even and stable growing start.

The starting point of the line is pre-processed growing media. Compressed substrate is first broken up by the substrate crusher, and then sent into the substrate mixer. Water and fertilizer are added according to the formula to get the proper moisture. Wellmixed fluffy substrate is ready. The even and fluffy substrate is delivered to the soil cover of the seeding line by a lifting feeder. Empty trays move slowly forward on the conveyor belt. Substrate falls from the hopper and fills every cell. Rotating brushes gently sweep away extra substrate on the tray surface. This ensures the same filling thickness for each cell, with no overfilled or empty cells.

The filled trays move forward to the dibbling station. Press heads fall steadily and make evenly deep small holes on the substrate surface. The hole depth can be adjusted according to seed size. This step is vital to place seeds at fixed positions.

Then comes the core sowing stage. Our rollertype seeding line uses negative pressure to pick up seeds. As the roller turns, small holes suck one single seed accurately. When it moves above the tray, the seed falls steadily into the premade holes. It can realize one seed per cell with low sowing error. It saves plenty of seeds and makes seedlings emerge more evenly.

After sowing, trays move to the covering station. Substrate covers the seeds, and brushes level the tray surface again. This thin layer of covering soil can hide seeds and lock moisture. It will not be too heavy to stop young sprouts from breaking through the soil.

The last step is automatic spraying. Fine and even mist falls softly on the tray to fully wet the substrate. The water flow is gentle. It will not wash seeds away or cause local water accumulation. After spraying, the conveyor sends out trays with sown seeds.

All stations work smoothly and cooperatively. The line does not merely replace manual work. More importantly, it standardizes conditions for every tray: substrate compactness, sowing depth, covering thickness and moisture.
