Does the seed weaving machine affect germination rate?

Many farmers worry that seed weaving will damage seeds and lower the germination rate. In fact, the seed weaving machine does not affect the seed germination rate when operated correctly.

The seed weaving machine picks up seeds by vacuum suction and arranges them on degradable paper tape at the set spacing. There is no rolling or grinding during the whole process, so the seed coat and embryo will not be damaged. Seed germination relies on the vitality of the embryo inside the seed, which only needs proper water, temperature and oxygen. The seed weaving machine does not squeeze or grind seeds. It uses vacuum suction to gently arrange seeds on degradable paper tape at preset spacing and fix them softly with threads. There is no heavy compression to break the seed coat or hurt the embryo. The paper tape is made of degradable materials. It softens quickly in water, lets water and oxygen reach the seeds easily and does not prevent germination.

A lower germination rate is mostly not caused by the seed weaving machine. Seed vitality will be damaged if the seeds are damp and spoiled, the vacuum suction of the machine is adjusted incorrectly, or the seed rope is kept in hot and humid conditions.

Compared with manual sowing, the seed weaving machine can control seed spacing accurately for even seedling emergence and less seed waste. It also cuts down heavy thinning work. It works well for small and medium-sized seeds like carrot, Chinese cabbage, radish and lettuce.

The seed weaving machine is just a precision sowing tool. As long as you use good seeds, adjust the machine properly and store the seed rope in a cool and dry place, the seeds will germinate normally. This thin seed rope is a great helper for labor-saving and stable production in modern agriculture.
