What kind of seeds are suitable for pelleting?
I. Core Adaptation Conditions
Particle size range: Small seeds with a particle size of 0.5-5 millimeters are preferred. Seeds that are too small (<0.5 millimeters) tend to clump together, while those that are too large (>5 millimeters) have high pelletization costs and limited benefits.
Physical properties: Seeds with irregular shapes, rough surfaces, or with hairs and edges can better adsorb pelletization matrices (such as clay and starch).
Germination stability: Seeds with a germination rate of ≥85% and strong germination potential will not be affected in their radicle breakthrough due to the matrix coating after pelletization.
Processing tolerance: The seed coat should have a certain hardness to withstand mechanical operations such as stirring, rolling, and drying without easily breaking or swelling and rotting.
II. Typical Suitable Seed Types
Vegetables: Lettuce, celery, broccoli, tomato, chili, carrot, and other small vegetable seeds.
Flowers: Petunia, marigold, pansy, salvia, and other fine-grained flower seeds.
Forage / Lawn: Ryegrass, bentgrass, white clover, and other small forage or lawn grass seeds.
Others: Some small seeds of Chinese medicinal materials (such as licorice, angelica), tobacco seeds, etc.
